HOMINUM MEETS

Hominum Fraser Valley meets Monday, July 31. This is an informal discussion and support group to help gay, bisexual and questioning men with the challenges of being married, separated or single. For information and meeting location, call Art at 604-462-9813 or email aapearson@shaw.ca.

MAD SCIENCE

A Mad Science event is held Monday, July 31 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at Abbotsford Community Library (33355 Bevan Ave.) and Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Mt. Lehman Library, 5975 Mt. Lehman Rd. The Mad Scientists demonstrate the wild and wonderful behaviours of air, with hot air balloons, vortex generators and even a hovercraft. Info: fvrl.bc.ca

GAMES NIGHT

A games night takes place Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way) and Thursday, Aug. 3 at Abbotsford Community Library, 33355 Bevan Ave., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A variety of board games will be available to play. Info: 604-853-1753

PET PARADE

Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way) holds a Pet Parade on Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. Kids are invited to bring along their favourite stuffed animal and join the event, which includes stories, craft noise-makers, and a parade around the library and park. Register by calling the library at 604-859-7814.

STORYTIME ON THE PORCH

Trethewey House Heritage Site (2313 Ware St.) holds a free Storytime on the Porch speaker series every Thursday (except Aug. 10) from 10 to 10:30 a.m. The speaker on Aug. 3 is Ernie Poignant, who shares his stories and experiences about the Mission Bridge. Info: 604-853-0313 or tretheweyhouse.ca.

HEP C SUPPORT

The hep C support group, hosted by Positive Living Fraser Valley, meets Thursday, Aug. 3 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the office of Dr. Farley, #7 – 2168 McCallum Rd. This is a free, facilitated drop-in group for anyone diagnosed with hep C. Info: 604-854-1101 or info@plfv.org

MOOD DISORDERS

The Mood Disorders Association support group meets Thursday, Aug. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services (2420 Montrose Ave.). The group is open to those who have mood disorders such as depression, biploar disorder, anxiety and panic attacks. Friends and family are also invited. Info: Christine at 604-854-9404

ABBOTSFORD AGRIFAIR

Abbotsford Agrifair runs Aug. 4 to 6 at Abbotsford Exhibition Park. The annual events features barrel racing, a demolition derby, wrestling, concerts, animals shows, displays and much more. Info: agrifair.ca

CLAYBURN MUSEUM

Clayburn Village Museum (4315 Wright St.) is open Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. from now until the end of August. Step back in time and visit the history of B.C.’s first company town. Info: Helen at 604-854-3960

CONVERSATION CIRCLES

Abbotsford Community Services holds English Conversation Circles for people who are new immigrants to Canada and would like to practise speaking English. The free drop-in program meets at several locations around Abbotsford throughout the week. Intake is ongoing throughout the year.
