MALE CHORUS

A concert with the Abbotsford Male Chorus takes place Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Rd. Admission is free but a collection will be taken for the M2/W2 Association.  Info: m2w2.com

FIDDLERS PERFORM

The West Coast Fiddlers and Friends perform traditional and contemporary fiddle music at the House of James (2743 Emerson St.) on Friday, Feb. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $10. Info: 604-852-3701

AUTHOR AT LIBRARY

Ruth Derksen, author of “Daughters in the City: Mennonite Maids in Vancouver” speaks at Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way) on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Special Mennonite treats will be served. Call 604-859-7814 to register.

SPCA SUPPORT

Women on the Move Consulting Inc. will collect donations for the Abbotsford SPCA on Sunday, Feb. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the local SPCA shelter, 34312 Industrial Way. Donations being accepted include cash, towels, blankets, AA and 9 volt batteries, food, kitty litter, metal shelving and pop bottles.

AFTER 5 DINNER

Abbotsford After 5 holds a  “Love Notes Dinner” on Monday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at ABC Restaurant, 32080 Marshall Rd.  The event includes singing trio Father’s Daughter and Marline Steele, a Canadian curling champion, sharing her story of Grieving to Gratefulness. RETIRED WORKERS

The Abbotsford branch of the B.C. Government Retired Employees’ Association meets Monday, Feb. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at MSA Museum, 2313 Ware St. A guest speaker from Vancity will discuss deposit insurance. Info: Jan at 604-850-3515

PINK SHIRT DAY RALLY

The Abbotsford Youth Commission (AYC) hosts a rally on Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday, Feb. 25 – to promote bullying awareness.  The rally will be held at the AYC Youth Centre at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre, 2499 McMillan Rd., starting at 3:15 p.m.  The public is welcome to put on their pink shirts and join the rally.

LEARNING PLUS

Abbotsford Learning Plus presents two classes next week in its fall series. Both sessions run from 10 a.m. to noon at Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC), 2499 McMillan Rd. The topic on Tuesday, Feb. 24 is “To Stay or Not to Stay: Costs and Benefits of Life in Bird Groups.” The topic on Thursday, Feb. 26 is “We Hunt for the Holy Grail.” Cost per class is $5, plus the $2 ARC drop-in fee. GARDEN CLUB

The Abbotsford Garden Club meets Tuesday,  Feb.  24 at 7 p.m. at Abbotsford Middle School, 33231 Bevan Ave.  The meeting includes a  presentation on shade gardens by Elke Knechtel of Red Barn Plants and Perennials.

INNER PEACE

Judy Guido, a national speaker with the Inner Peace Movement of Canada, is speaking at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the Best Western Regency Inn, 32110 Marshall Rd. Admission is $21. Info: innerpeacemovement.ca
