The Community Connections program at Abbotsford Community Services holds an evening of salsa dancing under the stars on Friday, Aug. 25. The free event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thunderbird Memorial Square, 32320 George Ferguson Way. The first half of the evening consists of a beginners’ salsa lesson. Elizabeth’s Wildlife Center (32508 Verdon Way) holds its annual open house on Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27 from noon to 4 p.m. The open house also includes a barbecue lunch by donation, face painting and a bake sale. The Adult and Teen Challenge Society of BC holds the Victory Walk-A-Run-A-Thon on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Mill Lake Park. Registration is at 9:15 a.m. and the walk/run starts at 10. Info: or 1-888-575-3930


Canadian Blood Services holds a blood donor clinic in Abbotsford on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Garden Park Power (2825 Clearbrook Rd.). The clinic has 100 appointments to fill. Go online to to book a spot.


A games night takes place Tuesday, Aug. 29 at Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way) and Thursday, Aug. 31 at Abbotsford Community Library, 33355 Bevan Ave., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A variety of board games will be available to play. Info: 604-853-1753


The Pacific International Street Rod Association holds its annual Bradner Show and Shine car show on Sunday, Sept. 3 at Bradner Sports Field (5305 Bradner Rd.). The event is open to all vehicles. Entry fee is $15. Admission for spectators is by donation to the Bradner Community Association. Info:


The 1977 graduating class of Abbotsford Senior Secondary is holding a 40-year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Eagles Hall on Essendene Avenue. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes mid-evening appetizers and desserts, followed by a dance. Tickets are $20, with net proceeds going to a scholarship fund. The Jubilee Park Lawn Bowling Club welcomes new members.
