Sikh parade on Sept. 4

There will be another Sikh parade, or Nagar Kirtan, in Abbotsford this Sunday. The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the Gurdwara Sahib Kalgidhar Darbar, located at 30640 Blueridge Drive, do a loop of the area, and is scheduled to end at 3 p.m. at the same location.

The traditional parade is a religious procession, led by the Sikh holy scriptures. It draws tens of thousands of participants, some who come from across the continent for the event.

Residents and businesses in the area are being advised that there will be rolling street closures, and may be traffic congestion in the area. No street parking will be permitted along the route, beginning at midnight on Sept. 3.

The parade will proceed east on Blueridge Drive, south onto Townline Road, west onto Southern Drive, north-west onto Sandpiper Drive, north onto BlueJay Street, west onto Blueridge Drive, and end back at the temple.
