An Abbotsford business is holding an event to raise money for the family of fallen Abbotsford Police officer Const. John Davidson.
Fraser Valley Metal Recycling Inc. (34272 Industrial Way) will donate the proceeds from scrap metal brought to their recycling yard throughout December.
The site is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A special account has been set up, and anyone wanting to help out should mention the fundraiser when they bring in their scrap metal.
Davidson was killed Nov. 6 after he was struck by gunfire while responding to a report of shots being fired at citizens at a strip mall on Mt. Lehman Road.
He is survived by his wife and three adult children.
Fraser Valley Metal Recycling previously participated in the Scrap Cars not Kids campaign in partnership with Cyrus Centre in Abbotsford.
Youth were asked what they would like to crush out of their lives, and then write it on a scrap car. The vehicle was then crushed a week later to raise awareness about and to crush youth homelessness.
