A series of online and informal talks designed to engage the public in learning about recent research in science begins Feb. 2.
ScienceTalks Abbotsford: A Virtual Science Cafe features talks given by researchers and scientists from University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), providing an opportunity to explore the latest ideas in science, research and technology.
Each talk is followed by a question-and-answer session.
Each session begins at 7:30 p.m. Registration is free at sciencetalks.ca and is required to receive the Zoom video-conferencing link.

The topics are:
• Turning Knowledge into Action: UFV’s CHASI Hub Reinventing Community Research – Feb. 2 at with Dr. Martha Dow
• From the Last Ice Age to 2021 and Beyond: How has our Physical Environment Adapted to Climate Change? – March 2 with Dr. Olav Lian • Ageism: The Challenges of Staying Engaged and Included – April 6 with Dr. Shelley Canning
• Socio-cultural Impact of South Asian Communities in Canada – May 3 with Dr. Satwinder Bains
The project received initial financial assistance from the City of Abbotsford, and the Abbotsford Community Foundation through the Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grants Fund, a project that encourages neighbourhoods to create positive social connections and build community strength.
Other public and private institution have decided to participate, such as UFV, the Abbotsford Tech District and Conexkt.
