Positive Living Fraser Valley (PLFV), in partnership with SARA for Women and the Lookout Society, hosts free hepatitis C testing on Thursday, July 26.

The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at the PLFV office at 108A – 32883 South Fraser Way.

Fast and easy hep C testing will be available and fibro-scans of the liver will be done onsite.

Information, refreshments and food will also be available.

Volunteers will be out in the community from 10 a.m. to noon to remind people to be tested.

They will be on hand at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy and London Drugs, as well as Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.

Positive Living Fraser Valley says it is estimated that nearly half of those living with hepatitis C in Canada are unaware of their infection. Many undiagnosed are born between 1945 and 1965.

The agency says hep C can now be cured in almost all cases with daily pills in as little as eight to 12 weeks.
