People got an up-close look at more than 200 quilts on display in Chilliwack on the weekend.
The Chilliwack Quilters’ Guild held its biannual show ‘Sew’d to Joy’ at Chilliwack Alliance Church on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14.
One attraction was an old-fashioned bed turning where 22 quilts were placed on top of each other on a bed. They would then be held up, one at a time, as a guild member read a brief history on each one.
In addition to the bed-turning quilts, dozens of other quilts were on display in the sanctuary, draped over the pews. This was a new way for the guild to display the quilts as in the past, they would be hung vertically.
Quilted bags and wallets were also on display, plus there was a quilt raffle, and quilting demos.
Other features included a merchants’ mall where new items were for sale, a members’ boutique where people could buy handmade items made by the members, and a white elephant table with second-hand sewing items.
The show goes until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.
