Our nation brims with exceptional people

Many distinguished individuals and remarkable accomplishments

You don’t have to look very far to find heroes, idols and role models in Canada.

Whether we’re talking about sports, science, politics or economics, it’s easy to find Canadians from coast to coast who, through hard work and determination, made their mark and left the world a better place. There are men like Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone; James Gosling, the creator of the programming language JAVA; famous actors like Jim Carrey and Michael J. Fox; and Olympic medal winners like Marc Gagnon.

Famous Canadian women include authors like Margaret Atwood and Nancy Huston, singers like Shania Twain and Céline Dion, feminist leaders like Nellie McClung, and the first woman to serve as Canada’s prime minister, Kim Campbell.
