Middle Years Information Fair held in Abbotsford

The new event takes place Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Howe Middle School

A new event for Abbotsford will provide an opportunity for parents of middle school children (ages 10 to 14) to see the many community programs and activities available for their children.

The Middle Years Information Fair is aimed at parents – and their children – looking for programming, supports, or new experiences for their adolescents.

The free event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28 at two different times – 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Howe Middle School, 3174 Clearbrook Rd.

More than exhibitors representing community groups and organizations will be on hand to talk to parents and students about their various offerings.

“We recognized both a need and a real opportunity to connect community organizations with our students and families,” said Ryan Colbert, Howe Middle principal, who came up with the idea for the event.

“My colleagues in middle schools across our district thought it was a great idea for students and families. We’ve had a terrific response from community groups to the invitation to participate and I think parents and kids will be pleasantly surprised by the kinds of activities and programs they can find here in Abbotsford.”
