Approximately 70 volunteers were treated to a pancake breakfast on Monday morning at the MCC Clothing Etc. shop on South Fraser Way.

The event was held to honour the volunteers' dedication and commitment to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

The breakfast included sausages and pancakes, served with blueberries and whipped cream.

Last Thursday evening, MCC held a combined volunteer appreciation barbecue for its MCC Abby East Thrift Shop and the MCC Furniture and More Thrift Shop.

The two shops will close their current locations and amalgamate into one larger store in the new MCC centre currently under construction.

The building is located on 8.5 acres of land on Gladys Avenue and will also include a home office, local programs, Ten Thousand Villages, a cafe and more.

Ground-breaking for the project took place in June 2013, and the anticipated completion date is Aug. 31.
