The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB) has donated $12,000 to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford.

The donation will be used to purchase a Pedicraft canopy bed. These beds are specially designed for children, with safety and comfort in mind.

The are equipped with adjustable mattress options while also able to support necessary medical equipment.

The region is growing, and the demand for specialized care is greater than ever, said Gopal Sahota, president of the FVREB.

He said local realtors are proud to support Canuck Place and the incredible work they do to provide a home and care to children and their families in the “most difficult of situations.”

Over the last year, Canuck Place has cared for more than 715 children and families, with more than 40 per cent of patients residing in the Fraser Valley.

Canuck Place CEO Margaret McNeil said the agency is grateful for the support from partners such as the FVREB.

“This generous contribution will directly impact Canuck Place families as we expand our services at Dave Lede House this year,” she said.

The hospice raises 60 per cent of its annual operating costs and relies on donations to keep their doors open at no cost to families.

Canuck Place offers pediatric palliative care for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
