On March 7, Yale Secondary sent a team of Grade 11 and 12 students to compete in a lab skills competition

On March 7, Yale Secondary sent a team of Grade 11 and 12 students to compete in a lab skills competition at Trinity Western University.

The Grade 11 team consisting of Morris Huang, James Chooi, and Eric Cho came in second place, while the Grade 12 team consisting of Joey Krahn, Jocelyn Kerr and Sung Il Ahn came in first.

The competition included two labs, in which the teams had to recrystallize a sample in order to separate a mechanical mixture.

In the other lab, the teams had to determine the concentration of hypochlorite in bleach. The contest also consisted a 40-minute multiple choice test, in which Ahn, Chooi and Huang achieved the top three highest marks.
