The film The Last Objectors will be screened Nov. 12 in Abbotsford.

The spectacle of war, terror, and forced migration all too often dominate the news.

The Mennonite Historical Society of BC offers a counterpoint at its annual fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the event will feature a showing of the film, The Last Objectors, which documents the experiences of war objectors in World War II.

The film was directed by Andrew Wall and has won numerous awards, including best documentary at Winnipeg’s Real to Reel Film Festival.

Archivist Conrad Stoesz, associate producer of the film, will speak on the project after the showing.

The event will take place at King Road MB Church, 32068 King Rd. A light meal – or Faspa in Mennonite lingo – will follow.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 604-853-6177 or online at mhsbc.com.

The Mennonite Historical Society of BC is a non-profit and functions entirely on community donations.
