Two celebrities visited Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Friday morning to bring joy to kids – as well as visitors and staff – in the pediatric ward.

Cookie Monster and Elmo were in town for the performance of Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music.

Before hitting the stage at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC), they took time out of their busy schedules to visit some of the hospital's sick kids.

The pair are also scheduled to be on hand Friday afternoon outside of the AESC, where Mayor Bruce Banman will temporarily rename University Way to Sesame Street.

In conjunction with the event, Global Spectrum is holding an all-day clothing drive today (Friday) at AESC, located at 33800 King Rd., to benefit the Salvation Army.

Donations of coats, hats, mittens, socks and gloves are being accepted.

All donations receive a coupon for $3 off bowl tickets for Elmo Makes Music.

The show takes place Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 and 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are sold through abbotsfordcentre.ca and at the AESC box office.
