Driving for Matthew's House

On May 16, local drivers took a spin around the block in a new 2012 Ford vehicle in support of Communitas and Matthew’s House.

Ford Canada, in partnership with Magnuson Ford of Abbotsford, donated $20 for each test drive completed.

Drivers further supported Matthew’s House through a by-donation BBQ sponsored by PriceSmart Foods.

The sense of community support behind these events reflects the heart and soul of Matthew’s House, said organizers.

“It is wonderful to see such a diversity of people out to support respite care for children with disabilities.  People in Abbotsford want to help their local community.  A special thank you to the Downtown Abbotsford Historic Car Show Society and the Lions Club of Abbotsford,” said Tom Balke, Stewardship Director at Communitas Supportive Care Services.

Matthew’s House – facilitated by Communitas Supportive Care Society – will provide respite care for children with life-limiting disabilities. It will offer children a safe, welcoming place to stay, while at the same time allowing parents the opportunity for rest.  This home away from home will provide long and short-term respite based on the needs of individuals and their families throughout B.C.
