City of Abbotsford planning an Arbour Day event

Abbotsford Parks, Recreation and Culture is celebrating Arbour Day with a one-day event (May 11) at Ellwood Park/Fishtrap Creek.

Abbotsford Parks, Recreation and Culture is celebrating Arbour Day with a one-day event (May 11) at Ellwood Park/Fishtrap Creek.

The event is geared for school-aged children and will give teachers the opportunity to put a local perspective on their science and environmental studies.

Arbour Day focuses on the celebration of trees and their importance and value in our communities by promoting tree planting.

The event will include an official tree planting, informative trail tours and a self guided trail tour for those who want a relaxed walk through the park.

The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free, but classes must pre-register by calling the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department at 604-853-5485. The event is also open to community members at no cost.
