Canadian Federation of University Women hold conference in Abbotsford

The Abbotsford chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) hosted the B.C. council’s annual general meeting from April 22 to 24.

The theme was “Intersecting Journeys.”

A total of 106 delegates representing 21 CFUW clubs from around BC gathered for the event at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre.

The keynote panel – consisting of Vivienne Chin, Sidrah Ahmad and Satwinder Bains – spoke about Journeying Together as Women.

Paul van Westendorp spoke about Colony Collapse, Neonicotinoids and Pollinator Declines.

Local artist Linda Klippenstein facilitated a hands-on project entitled Building Community Through Art, and Lisa Powell explored Agriburbia.

There were tours to local points of interest, including the Eco Dairy, Tanglebank Nursery, Taisuco Orchid Farm, Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm and Meadery, and The Reach Gallery Museum.

On Sunday, a CFUW plenary session was held, entitled Mom 2 Mom Child Poverty Initiative Society.
