The 87th annual Bradner Flower Show takes place April 10 to 12 at Bradner Hall (5305 Bradner Rd.).

Guests and activities at the show will help attendees understand some of the aspect of growing flowers and vegetables with a focus on not using chemicals.

The show runs daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, with proceeds from the sale of cut flowers going to Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre.

Special guest Jim Matteoni of Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the Institute for Sustainable Horticulture opens the show on Friday and will be on hand in the Speakers’ Corner to answer questions.

There will also be a performance by the Bradner Elementary Handbell Choir.

Other special guests throughout the weekend include Bert the Mole Man, Chris Bodnar of Glen Valley Organic Farm, and Jim Sadowski, an expert on mason bees.

The show also includes demos from local chefs, including Pamela E. Scott of Chef’s Pantry and Catering and Angie Quaale of Well Seasoned, a newly elected Langley Township councillor who appears regularly on Global TV.

There will also be demos from Singletree Winery, Campbell’s Gold Meadery and Surlie Brewing.

In addition to the hundreds of varieties of daffodils that local growers present each year, there will be plant sales, crafts, and lots of food.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be additional displays in the Bradner School gym that will include Gerry Powers of the Central Valley Naturalists with a birds of prey display, the Langley Spinners and Weavers, and more.

Musical performances include recording artist Ryan McAllister and the Circle of Friends Band.

Admission is $2. For more information, visit Facebook.com/BradnerHall, email bradnerflowershow@gmail.com or call 604-856-8441.
