Organizers of the Abbotsford International Airshow gathered on Tuesday evening to thank the volunteers, organizations and companies that helped get this year's airshow off the ground.

Jim Reith, president of the airshow, spoke to the crowd at the Sandman Hotel, thanking the group for their behind-the-scenes efforts to put on a "first-class airshow."

Reith also thanked the city and the airport for supporting the airshow.

Mayor Bruce Banman thanked the organizers, staff and volunteers for putting on an event that provides so much recognition to the City of Abbotsford.

"To the city, this airshow puts us on the map."

Reith thanked the many long-time volunteers, and provided cheques to various groups who provided services at the show, including the Elks Club, the Fraser Valley Scouts, St. John's Ambulance and the W.J. Mouat Football Club.
