Abbotsford Tulip Festival features 10 acres of blooms

The inaugural Abbotsford Tulip Festival takes place starting this week.

The festival takes place on the Warmerdam family farm at 36737 North Parallel Rd. and runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from March 25 to May 1.

Guests will experience 10 acres of beautiful, vibrant colour, featuring more than 50 varieties and 2.5 million bulbs, and parking for over 1,000 vehicles.

The festival offers a covered picnic area, children’s play area, photo cut-out boards, food trucks on weekends, and sections for friends and family to wander through the fields. Guests can pick their own flowers in the U- pick field, purchase fresh cut tulips and order bulbs for planting in the fall.

“Our festival highlights community spirit, local agriculture and spring,” said Alexis Warmerdam, owner and fourth-generation Dutch-Canadian bulb grower.

“I am excited to see this long-time dream become a reality and I’m looking forward to sharing my passion with our community.”

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at abbotsfordtulipfestival.ca. Parking is free from Monday to Friday.
