A local Abbotsford group, Toastmasters Rise and Shine, is celebrating 25 years of empowering leaders and educating public speakers.

The group holds a free event – open to the community – on Friday, Feb. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Abbotsford campus of University of the Fraser Valley in auditorium B101.

The club was formed by Clarence Jensen 25 years ago with the mission to help improve public speaking and leadership skills in the community.

Current club president is Cam Taylor.

“One of the most common fears is public speaking. We hope to show that no matter what your level of speaking is, that it can be fun with the right people,” Taylor said.

RSVP to the event online at eventbrite.ca (search “Rise and Shine Toastmasters”). Appetizers will be served.
