Abbotsford SPCA event raises more than $15,000

Funds will be used to help care for the sick, injured and abandoned animals at the local shelter.

The Abbotsford SPCA‘s seventh annual auction and dinner raised more than $15,000.

The event was held July 6 at Ledgeview Golf and Country Club and catered by In Vogue Catering, raising funds to help care for the hundreds of sick, injured, abandoned and unwanted animals that arrive at the shelter each year.

Volunteers who helped make the event a success were Maria Graham, Kevin Murray, Kelly O’Blenis, Lin Neifert, Lois Makela, Renee Prociw, Florence Vander Meer, Nicole Fiest and Scott Shelley.

The agency is now accepting donations for a book and bake sale taking place Sunday, Aug. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. (location to be determined).

It also holds its annual Paws for a Cause dog walk on Sept. 8. The event includes games, demos, a silent auction, a barbecue by donation and prizes for best dressed and best trick.
