Abbotsford Neighbours’ Day on Sept. 20

Residents encouraged to plan inclusive events

Abbotsford’s Neighbours’ Day is set for Sept. 20, and residents are encouraged to get to know their neighbours by planning an inclusive gathering.

The city has resources, including the Abbotsford Neighbour Spirit Toolkit, that residents can borrow at no costs (with some restrictions) and has many items to help hold an inclusive neighbourhood gathering.

The toolkits include a grill, tents, chairs, games and more. Those interested in using it must be holding an inclusive event where all residents in a geographic area are invited. Events must meet all municipal, provincial and federal applicable laws and guidelines. To host a block party an application must be filled out. Use of the toolkit or applications for a block part must be arranged with the community developer a minimum of two weeks prior to the event.
