An Abbotsford man will make his 10th annual jump out of a plane on Tuesday, July 28 to celebrate his 90th birthday and to try to raise another $10,000 for Cyrus Centre for at-risk youth.
Nelson Drozdowich has been participating in the centre’s Leap of Faith fundraiser every year since 2011 when he became concerned about the growing number of people experiencing homelessness in the community.
Drozdowich was moved to become involved with Cyrus Centre because of their support of vulnerable youth before they become street-entrenched.
Leap of Faith, normally held at Skydive Vancouver in Abbotsford, involves people doing tandem skydives while raising money for Cyrus Centre.
Drozdowich has raised a total of $90,000 over the years and would like to reach $100,000 this year.
However, although Leap of Faith isn’t taking place this year due to COVID-19, Drozdowich will be jumping on his own.

Cyrus Centre has locations in Abbotsford and Chilliwack and provides services such as emergency shelter, meals, access to a youth worker, life-skills training, employment assistance and more.
