Abbotsford group help clean up the community

Several schools and other organizations participated in Community Clean-up Week.

Abbotsford residents are encouraged to register to pick up litter around their workplace, school and community as part of Community Clean-up Week (April 22-28).

The city provides participants garbage pickers, safety vests, gloves, and marked garbage bags. To register and pick up your Clean-up Abbotsford Week supplies, go to the Abbotsford Exhibition Park office at 32470 Haida Drive.

Numerous schools celebrated Earth Day (April 22) and joined in to help clean the city.

Abbotsford Christian School, St. John Brebeuf and Yale Secondary have on-going litter cleaning programs, while players and staff from the Abbotsford Heat will be cleaning around AESC and King Road.

Auguston Traditional Elementary, Dasmesh Punjabi School and Terry Fox Elementary will be working around their schools while Centennial Elementary School celebrated Earth Day at Mill Lake Park. Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Matsqui will be cleaning areas surrounding Mill Lake Park, and University of the Fraser Valley students will be cleaning their campus and nearby parks.

Sevenoaks Shopping Centre will be cleaning areas in the west end of the city.
