A 10-year-old boy who donated his birthday cash to the Terry Fox Foundation was recently recognized as a “Little Hero” by Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS).
Ezra Wnuk, a Grade 5 student at Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts (North Poplar campus), and his classmates were recently visited by AFRS firefighters at the school.
They presented Ezra with a $100 prize, and his class then got to take a closeup look at a fire truck.
Ezra was nominated for the honour after his teacher, Shannon Thiesen, saw an Instagram post from AFRS, asking for “Little Heroes” nominees – kids who have demonstrated bravery or generosity.
Thiesen was impressed that Ezra had donated $135 – all the money he received from his 10th birthday on Sept. 4 – to the Terry Fox Foundation.
