Abbotsford Agrifair announces drive-thru for 2021 – and this time it’s free

Event builds on success of last year’s Drive-Thru Safari for its 110th year

Abbotsford Agrifair organizers have announced that this year’s event will be an expansion of the Drive-Thru Safari that was held in 2020 – and this time it is free to the public.

Agrifair president Bob Street said there will be no admission charge, thanks to the support of local business Richard Meyer Electrical Services Ltd.

“With everything that the community has been through the last 12 months, the board felt it was our duty to give back in a big way this year,” Street said.

“It is through the generous support of Richard Meyer Electrical Services Ltd. that we can make this a reality for 2021. (They) have been unwavering in their support of the fair for years.”

Owner Richard Meyer said they are “thrilled” to give back to the community that has supported their business.

“We know how much the community has endured, and this is our way to say, ‘Don’t worry, we got you covered. Come with your family and enjoy,’ ” he said.

Fair manager Graham Vanstone said Abbotsford has had “some of the most charitable partners and sponsors” over its 110 years of existence.

“We value every contribution, whether it is a person’s time, goods, services, or monetary donation,” he said.

This year’s fair runs from July 30 to Aug. 1 and includes Global FMX, which will be flying through the air with their freestyle motocross.

The event also includes lots of animal friends and maybe a dinosaur or two, along with a wide variety of food trucks. More details will be revealed at agrifair.ca over the coming weeks and months.

Meanwhile, any businesses, organizations or individuals wanting to volunteer or sponsor are asked to email agrifair@telus.net or call 604-852-6674.
