ACS to run employment program

Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) has been announced as the lead contractor for the province’s new Employment Program of B.C.

Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) has been announced as the lead contractor in the community for the province’s new Employment Program of B.C.

The program will be delivered through WorkBC Employment Services Centres in communities across the province, starting in April.

The Abbotsford WorkBC centre will operate from the storefront location currently used by Mennonite Central Committee BC (MCC BC) to operate its employment centre at #103 – 33255 South Fraser Way.

The Employment Program of BC was developed after two and a half years of province-wide consultations, research and data analysis. The goal is to provide improved services to unemployed people wanting to return to the workforce.

These services include job search skills, employment counselling and job placement.

Five partners join ACS to provide services: MCC BC, Bowman Employment Services Inc., Triangle Community Resources Inc., Communitas Supportive Care Society, and Community Futures South Fraser.

They will operate from five locations – one store front, two satellite sites, and two intinerant locations.
