Twisters gymnasts dominate at provincials

Athletes from Abbotsford's Twisters Gymnastics Club stormed the podium at the B.C. artistic gymnastics championships in Kamloops.

Athletes from Abbotsford's Twisters Gymnastics Club stormed the podium at the B.C. artistic gymnastics championships in Kamloops last weekend, combining for an eye-popping 79 medals.

Highlighting the medal haul were five all-around division champions.

Kyle Machibroda-Ames (national open men), Tamara Skulstad (P5 tyro women), Brienna Gaspar (P4 argo/tyro women), Jordis Kliewer (P3 argo women) and Ethan Ikeda (U10 Level 2 men) won their respective divisions.

Other all-around medalists from the local club on the men’s side included Curtis Olivier (silver, national open), Cohen Kiers (bronze, novice) and Brendan Ansell (bronze, Level 4).

On the women's side, Katelyn Cotterell (silver, P3 novice), Marissa Engh (bronze, P3 argo), Paula Melger-Iida (silver, P2 novice) and Mikhayla Rosenow (bronze, P2 argo) also collected all-around medals.
