A pair of graduating MEI Eagles volleyball players will continue the sport close to home.

Grade 12 students Lexi Edwards and Karissa Marazzi have both agreed to continue their volleyball journey with the UFV Cascades women’s volleyball team in the fall.

The pair were key parts of the Eagles’ senior girls volleyball team that won back-to-back AA provincial titles.

MEI defeated the Langley Christian School Lightning in 2016 and also took down Pacific Academy in 2015 to earn the pair of provincial championships. Edwards was named a tournament second team all-star in 2015, while Marazzi was named top libero at the 2016 event.

Marazzi has also excelled in beach volleyball, earning a gold medal at the Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games in July. Last year she also finished first in the U17 beach volleyball provincials and second in the U17 beach volleyball nationals. Marazzi also was part of a championship team in the U17 indoor club season in 2016.

Both girls also excelled on the Eagles senior basketball team the past two years.

The Cascades finished last year with a record of nine wins and 15 losses, and finished fifth place in the PacWest.

That now makes three Eagles senior girls members who will be suiting up in PacWest action in the fall, as earlier this year Ashley Huberts committed to the College of the Rockies Avalanche.

The PacWest volleyball regular season gets underway in mid-October.
