Canucks fans took to an Abbotsford street Friday to celebrate their team advancing to the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Fans lined South Fraser Way, along Gladwin Road, to celebrate the win. Abbotsford police directed traffic.
Elsewhere, fans closed an intersection at the Surrey-North Delta border Friday for another celebration.
The area around Scott Road and 72 Avenue was filled with fans May 3 after the Vancouver Canucks beat the Nashville Predators 1-0 in Game 6. The main celebration was at the major intersection, but fans celebrated up and down Scott Road.
Pius Suter scored with 1:39 left in Vancouver’s Friday night Game 6 win.
The Canucks will play the Edmonton Oilers in the second round.
The Canucks and Oilers have not met in the playoffs since 1992 when Edmonton won the second-round series in six games.
