The Abbotsford Traditional boys and the Ashcroft girls took top honours at the Big Bear Classic basketball tournament at St. John Brebeuf Secondary last weekend.
The Titans topped Credo Christian of Langley 72-45 in the boys final. Manjot Birk was instrumental in the victory, scoring 30 points, while Abnashi Randhawa had 18 points.
Ashcroft, the No. 4-ranked Single A squad in the province, beat Southridge of Surrey in the girls title game.
Both of the host SJB teams finished fifth, winning their first-round games before wrapping up the event with consecutive losses. The Bears boys opened with a victory over Heritage Park of Mission, while the girls knocked off Agassiz.
SJB’s Rebecca Van Noort and E.J. Rabanes were tournament all-stars, while Kendra Murray and Alec Gloanec were named the most inspirational players.
