Abbotsford’s Robert Bateman Timberwolves senior boys rugby team winning all over the world

Wolves travel to New Zealand, Australia over spring break, also pick up wins locally

The Robert Bateman Secondary School senior boys rugby team continue to win following a trip down under over spring break.

The Timberwolves went 3-2 while overseas, winning two of three in New Zealand and splitting games in Australia.

They opened with a 33-26 win over Otorohanga College, then a 19-5 loss against Papamoa College and left New Zealand with after a 28-13 win over Rototuna High School. While at the airport awaiting their flight to Australia, the team took pictures with Super Rugby team Fijian Drua and England national team coach Steve Borthwick.

In Australia, Bateman fell 37-7 to St. Augustine’s College, a school that has produced many senior Wallaby players. The last stop on the tour was in Bathurst where the Wolves defeated Scots All Saints College 33-5.

Since returning from tour, the Wolves have outscored the opposition in three games by a combined 170 points.

They have defeated D.W. Poppy, Brookswood and defeated the previously unbeaten G.W. Graham Grizzlies 62-0 on Monday (April 15).

Bateman next travels to Kelowna on April 23 and North Vancouver to play Carson Graham on April 28.
