Abbotsford hosted the district girls softball championships in seven divisions at Exhibition Park on the weekend, and local teams turned in a series of sparkling results.
The top two teams in each division advanced to the provincials, and seven Abbotsford Minor Fastball Association teams qualified.
Abby squads finished atop the U12B, U14B, U16B and U19C divisions, while the U14C, U16C and U18B teams notched runner-up results.
“Overall, almost every one of our teams advanced to provincials this year,” enthused Leasa Lepine, who coaches the Abby U16B squad. “We’ve had an excellent year for all our rep teams.
“This is probably the nicest group of girls I’ve ever coached, and it’s been a lot of fun.”
U14B girls provincials will be held at Exhibition Park, July 12-14.
