She was the first of six girls. Vera lost her dad when she was 12 and the family had to move into town. Vera did well in school and work and in music. She was vivacious and beautiful. Vera married Lawrence Siemens in 1936 and moved to Winnipeg, where she raised a family and became a much loved music teacher (ARCT) and executive member of the Winnipeg Registered Music Teachers Association. Vera participated in the ministry of her church, Calvary Temple, through her music and as a Sunday school teacher.

Vera was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lawrence Siemens, by her husband of 2 years Jimmy Johnstone and by her last husband also of 2 years, Immanuel Jensen. She was also predeceased by 3 of her sisters, Ada, Grace and Audrey. Surviving her are her children Donald and Karen; grandchildren, Debbie, Erin and Brock and great grandchildren, Mitch, Jamie, Brittany, Brandon, Marcus and Connor and her sisters, Ivy and Gwen.

Vera and Lawrence retired from Winnipeg to Abbotsford where Vera lived for 20 years. Recently Vera moved into New Westminster to be near her son. Vera was a strong, lively, enjoyable woman who only gave up driving her car at age 92. She lived independently until felled by a cerebral hemorrhage.

Thanks are extended to the staff at RCH for their excellent care.
