John. a long time resident of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully on Sat. July 22, 2006 at the Christine Morrison Hospice Mission, BC, with family at his side.
John was predeceased by his brothers Fred, sister Thelma, Âsister-in-law Beth, brother-in-law Doug, brother-in-law Victor Deane; sister and brother-in-law Jenny and Johnny Ott; sister-in-law Rosaline Deane and niece Sharon.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) of 54 years of marriage, his 5 children Jonnilee Benson, Pamela (Robert) Hubley, Carla (Daryl) Collins, all of Abbotsford, Cathy Benson-Jestin (Ryan Jestin) of NB, Steven Benson of Surrey, England; 7 grandchildren Tony, Ashley, Shayley, Richelle, J.J., Shelby,and Adrian; 7 brothers and sisters, Gene (Joy) Benson, Avice (Eric) Schweisinger, Vera (Brian) Stubbington, Doug (Leona) Benson, Ray (Anthea) Benson, Pat Disney (Joe Shear), Garth (Pat) Benson; brother-in-law Joe (Jody) Deane; sister-in-law Eva Deane; also nieces and Ânephews.
John’s passions in life were his family, friends, roses and woodworking. During his working life John was a long haul truck driver. Following his trips, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His marriage to Betty was a testimony of his love. Dad will be remembered for his life lessons, treating others Âbetter than you treat yourself and always trying to bring a smile to others. A memorial service following a reception will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford.
