JANZEN, FRANK

January 24, 1923 - January 2, 2009

Frank passed away peacefully on January 2, 2009, with his family at his side. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Kathie, his children Anne (Eric) Schmidt, Hank (Shelley) Janzen, John (Judi) Janzen and Agnes (Tim) Notting. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, each and every one special to him.

Frank was born in Neu-Halbstadt, Ukraine on January 24, 1923. He immigrated to Canada in 1949 and made Winnipeg his home. Frank was baptized on July 23, 1950 at North Kildonen MB Church and went on to marry Kathie on December 30th that year. They continued to live in Winnipeg, until moving to Abbotsford in 1965.

Frank was a carpenter by trade and also spent several years as a custodian at MEI. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening (grapes and tomatoes were his specialty), going for long walks and watching the world go by.

Although he may have been small in stature, he had a huge heart. His sense of humor will be missed by most, while his strong handshake, smile and laughter will be missed by all.

A memorial luncheon will be held at Clearbrook MB Church, on Friday, January 9th, at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MCC in Frank's memory.
