FRIESEN; David

Dave Friesen passed away April 30, 2016 in the Mission Hospital. Born February 3, 1926 in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, he was the second eldest of 6 siblings. As a teen, his family moved from the prairies to BC and finally settled in Mission. Dave celebrated 67 years of marriage to Erna. She passed just over two years ago and despite many friends, it has been a lonely time. He is survived by his sister Sarah Bueckert, his children; Victor (Jo-Anne), Stanley (Lois), Judy (Walter) Wall, Joanne (Gordon) Yard. Dave is blessed with 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Dave was a good provider for his family. He worked in forestry (shake splitter, logger, faller, skidder operator) mostly in the Stave Lake area. It was very important to Dave to give back to his community. He achieved a lifetime membership in the Lions Club for his many years of service. When he was no longer able to keep up with Lions activities, he volunteered at the MCC. In his golden years, Dave's favourite hobby was fishing. He made a multitude of trips to Howard Lake with friends and family. In more recent years, he spent countless hours playing crib and socializing with other seniors. A service to celebrate his life and legacy will be held May 6th, 2:00 pm at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church. There will be a reception to follow at the church.
