Barbara (nee Janzen) was born in Rudnerweide, Ukraine on February 20, 1909 to David and Barbara (Esau) Janzen.
She immigrated to Mexico with her family at age 17 and then to Alberta.
They were married in 1928 in Pincher Creek and moved to Coaldale, Alberta where they farmed for 13 years. They lived in Abbotsford area from 1941 on. She died on December 17, 2004 in the MSA Hospital at the age of 95, after a short illness.
Predeceased by husband Peter (1993); grandson Mark Symons; brothers David, Frank and sister Mary; she leaves behind children Peter (Sue), Margaret (Doug) Symons, David (Alice), Frank (Ruth), Vic (Diane), Barbara (Don) Wilkie; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren as well as sisters Katie Seidel, Margaret (Abe) Bergen, and brother Peter (Mary) Janzen.
Graveside service and burial will be on December 23 at the Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery, Abbotsford with memorial service held on December 28 at 11:00 am in the Clearbrook MB Church.
Dr. Ross and the nurses at MSA Hospital as well a sister-in-law, Emily Martens, are thanked for their kindness.
