Dec 1, 1930 - Dec 18, 2017
Anne (Pauls) Friesen of Abbotsford, BC, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on December 18, 2017, at the age of 87. She was born in Franzthal, Ukraine on December 1, 1930.

She is survived by her sister Hedwig (Jakob) Regier, sister-in-law Cornielia Pauls, 3 daughters, Waltraut North, Irene (Rob) Morrison, Betty (Dan) Wennerberg, and four sons, Ernie (Ruth), Henry (Mavis), Hartmut (Debbie), Edward, 15 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Heinrich Friesen, her brother Harry Pauls, one son, Bernard, and two grandchildren, Kenny Wennerberg and Greg Morrison.

Anne had a hard young life, first as a refugee escaping the turmoil during the 2nd World War, then traveling to Paraguay to begin a new life as a settler. She met and married her husband Henry in Paraguay, then, as a young mother with 5 children under 8 years, took on the task of travelling to Canada and re-settling in Abbotsford.

Very proud of all her children, Anne always made sure they were well-fed, well-clothed and clean. In order to accomplish all this, she and Henry purchased a raspberry farm where everyone had a task to do.

In later years, her greatest joy was in gardening. She kept a lovely garden which her neighbours enjoyed and admired.

Anne's funeral will be held on January 12, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Hendersen's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC.

Pastor Walter Wiens, from the Clearbrook MB Church, will be officiating.

Interment will be held at the Maclure Cemetery, 33965 Maclure Road, immediately after the service.
