One man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a targeted shooting in South Surrey at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police were called to the Morgan Creek Corporate Centre, at 32 Avenue and 152 Street in South Surrey, investigating after reports of shots fired.
One witness tweeted it “appears (to be) a shooting outside of drip lounge. Office building and vehicle in neighbouring parking lot struck by stray bullets.”
Upon arrival, RCMP identified a male victim who had fled from the scene. The man, who is known to police, was found a short time later near the site of the shooting.

Another witness at the scene told Peace Arch News that there were “eight or nine shots” fired. A bullet hole could be seen in the side of a nearby business; a white Acura crossover also appeared to be hit.
An RCMP press release confirmed that two buildings, one commercial and one residential, as well as one vehicle were struck by bullets during the shooting.

The Surrey Gang Enforcement Team and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit are investigating due to “the recent increase in shootings in this city.”
According to police, there had been 26 known shots-fired incidents in Surrey this year as of Monday.
Investigation into Thursday’s shooting remains in its early stages.
“This incident once again demonstrates the lack of respect and concern that people engaged in this behaviour have for the community,” said Sgt. Dale Carr.
