A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries that aren’t life-threatening following a collision Friday morning on Fraser Highway in west Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Police Const. Paul Walker said the man was riding a pedal-assisted electric scooter in the 29000 block of Fraser Highway at about 5 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver remained on the scene and is co-operating with police.

Traffic analysts are on scene, and Walker said Fraser Highway from Bradner to Ross roads will be closed for several hours.

Walker said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the incident, but low lighting in the area at the time of the collision might have contributed.
