Edo Japan is set to arrive soon at Abbotsford’s Highstreet Shopping Centre.
The Canadian fast food restaurant specializing in Japanese dishes has signage on what was the former Go Grill restaurant on the west side of the mall.
Meltwich Food Co. did have signage up earlier this summer, but that establishment is no longer coming to Abbotsford.
Edo Japan was initially started in Calgary by a Japanese Buddhist minister. The brand eventually expanded to Edmonton in the early 1980s and transformed into a franchise model in 1986. There are now over 160 locations across Canada.
There will soon be 31 locations in B.C. and the brand seems to be significantly expanding in the Fraser Valley, with restaurants opening soon in Abbotsford, Mission and Langley. There are existing locations in Chilliwack, Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver and Tsawwassen.
Edo Japan offers items such as sushi, bento boxes. noodle and rice dishes and soups. They are known for their signature teriyaki sauce.
