Nominations still being accepted for Arty Awards

Deadline is March 1, with the awards presented in April

The 12th annual Arty Awards are approaching quickly, but nominations for local artists, performers and arts advocate are being accepted until March 1.

The nomination form and further details are available at abbotsfordartscouncil.com or at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.).

Categories are:

– Outstanding Artist in the Visual Arts – two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and digital arts;

– Outstanding Artist in the Performing Arts – Dance;

– Outstanding Artist in the Performing Arts – Music;

– Outstanding Artist in the Performing Arts – Theatre;

– Outstanding Artist in the Literary Arts (creative writing, business writing);

– Outstanding Artist in the Culinary Arts;

– Outstanding Arts Organization (visual, performing, or literary arts);

– Christine Caldwell Outstanding Arts Advocate Award;

– Outstanding Student in Elementary or Secondary School (visual, performing, or literary arts); and

– Outstanding Post-Secondary Student (visual, performing, or literary arts).

A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented to an individual selected by the Abbotsford Arts Council board of directors.

The Arty Awards, hosted annually by the Abbotsford Arts Council, are open to the public, and will take place Saturday, April 9 at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium at 6 p.m.
