Country artist releases new Christmas song recorded in Abbotsford

Ben Klick of West Kelowna recently honoured at BC Country Music Awards

Fresh off two awards at the 2023 British Columbia Country Music Awards (BCCMA), West Kelowna country artist Ben Klick is out with an original Christmas song and music video that he recorded in Abbotsford.

Klick was awarded the Gaylord Wood Traditional Artist of the Year and the President’s Citation awards in November.

“It was a shock to have won two awards at this year’s BC Country Music Awards,” Klick said. “Being recognized by the community for what I do and who I am as an artist personally and professionally is something I don’t take lightly.”

The Gaylord Wood Award is presented to the act whose music is based on traditional country style, but is different from what is considered mainstream country.

The President’s Citation is based on factors such as community involvement, artistry, and overall support and professionalism within country music.

Klick was recognized for raising more than $170,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada through his fundraiser Music Fest MS.

He also recorded his brand new Christmas song Santa Rides A Harley, released Dec. 1, at Studio Downe Under in Abbotsford.

The music video was filmed in Kelowna and released Dec. 8.

“I’ve always loved motorbikes,” Klick added. “My dad and I used to go to the Vancouver Motorcycle Show every year when I was growing up.”

In the coming months, Klick will be playing several shows showcasing new music, including his latest singles and unreleased songs, before heading to Nashville at the end of January.
