The Abbotsford Arts Council presents Into the Woods – an art exhibition showcasing the works of Chris Johnston and Jake Muller, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 6.

The show is hosted both in person and online at abbotsfordartscouncil.com until April 27. The opening reception runs from noon to 2 p.m. at the Kariton Art Gallery, 2387 Ware St.

The show delves into a world where bears and woodland creatures come to life on canvas, inviting viewers to explore the beauty and mystery of the forest.

Through their art, Johnston and Muller – both Abbotsford residents – invite viewers to ponder the delicate balance between nature and civilization, offering a thought-provoking reflection on our impact on the world around us.

Johnston works as an artist creating storyboards for animated shows.

In his free time, he enjoys painting and uses the medium to explore shape and colour. He likes to simplify and stylize his subjects of interest in an attempt to create a lasting image.

Muller is a self-taught artist who has been painting for more than 30 years, working predominantly with oils and occasionally with acrylics.

His subject matters include landscapes, abstracts, some protest paintings and anything else that interests him. His motto is:“When everything in my art goes wrong, I turn to humour.”
