Prospera Credit Union recently announced a $10,000 donation to Abbotsford Community Services in support of the organization’s Youth and Family Counselling program.
The program is offered at the Youth Resource Centre (YRC), which has been providing services for more than 20 years to at-risk youth ages 12 to 18 in the Abbotsford area.
The counselling program, which began as a pilot project, provides free counselling to youth either on their own or with family members.
YRC supervisor Simone Maassen said results from the pilot project were positive, and there was a need to continue the program.
The financial support from Prospera will provide has many as 40 Abbotsford youth and their families with free counselling.
