VIDEO: Abbotsford dentists display proper flossing technique

Clayburn Dental Centre discusses the methods and importance of flossing

With Halloween a little over a month away, oral care should be on the mind of parents and children all over Abbotsford.

The incoming influx of sweets, treats, candy and sugar-laden items can be counterattacked with proper flossing technique.

For those unaware, flossing is the act of using a cord of thin filaments to remove food and dental plaque from between teeth in areas a toothbrush is unable to reach.

Plaque build-up is particularly concerning because it is the primary cause of dental diseases like gingivitis and tooth decay.

According to the American Dental Association, up to 80 per cent of all plaque can be eliminated through proper flossing.

But, what exactly is proper flossing?

Thankfully, Abbotsford’s Clayburn Dental Centre - located at 400-3033 Immel Street - released a very informative video on tips related to the practice of flossing.

Particularly useful in the video is the method of wrapping and unravelling floss with your index and middle fingers on each hand.
