A Fraser Valley food favourite has returned to Abbotsford.

Schnitzelz, which formerly operated locally at Whatcom Plaza beginning in 2004, officially reopened its doors in Abbotsford on Saturday.

The new location is at ML Plaza at #4-33324 South Fraser Way. It takes over the space previously occupied for many years by DeDutch Pannekoek House.

Schnitzelz moved from Abbotsford to Aldergrove in 2015, but made the decision to return to Abbotsford earlier this year. The establishment was previously located at the Alder Inn.

A schnitzel is a thin slice of meat that is breaded and then fried. The meat is usually thinned by pounding it with a meat tenderizer. There are also vegetarian alternatives of the dish. The schnitzel is found all over the world and can be made using veal, pork, chicken, mutton, beef, turkey, cheese or vegetable protein.

In addition to a variety of schnitzel options, Schnitzelz also offers burgers, hot dogs and a number of appetizers.

The establishment is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
